Designing for Tomorrow's Downtown: A Community Wellbeing Workshop and Open House

  • DIALOG Studio 10237 - 104 Street Northwest Edmonton, AB, T5J 1B1 Canada (map)

Please join DIALOG for an interactive workshop as we explore the Community Wellbeing Framework as a tool to address a design challenge related to Edmonton’s Downtown Historic Warehouse District along 104 Street. The workshop will be followed by a studio Open House and networking opportunity.

About the Community Wellbeing Framework:

The Community Wellbeing Framework is an evidenced-based methodology to design for community wellbeing. The Framework is the result of a two-year collaborative research initiative between The Conference Board of Canada and DIALOG to study the relationship between the built environment and the wellbeing of people. Research findings for the Framework were informed by literature review, case study applications, consultation with health and design professionals across North America, and peer reviewed by researchers at Cornell University, Université Laval, and the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The Community Wellbeing Framework was designed to be an open-ended and self-determined guide for built environment design professionals. It provides easy-to-use approaches to examine design features that contribute to community wellbeing, and facilitates decision-making among owners and users of place (the community) to enable the place (the project) to contribute, and continue to contribute throughout its life, to the wellbeing of the community.

You also have the option to join us for an open house from 5-6pm following the workshop, no ticket required.
