A series of 45 to 60 minute subject matter expert tours of City Hall.
In support of Edmonton Design Week, running across Edmonton from October 13-18, City Hall will open its doors for a special series of free community tours, focusing on its art, design, architecture and stories from 1992 to now.
Tuesday, October 13 at 5:00PM: Join City Hall’s architect, Gene Dub, as he tells the story of our fourth City Hall. Visit key spaces, such as the City Room, Council Chambers and the Heritage Room and learn more about the building’s unique design features.
Wednesday, October 14 at 5:30PM: Join City of Edmonton Architect, Carol Belanger, as he tells the design story of our fourth City Hall, the City Hall plaza and the fountain. Learn more about how City Hall spaces have adapted and evolved over time, from 1992 to today.
Thursday, October 15 at 12:00PM: Join the Edmonton Arts Council’s Director of Public Art and Conservation, David Turnbull, for a City Hall public art tour. Learn more about the 100+ works on display and the artists who created them, and hear more about the City of Edmonton’s Public Art strategies over the last two decades.
Friday, October 16 at 6PM: Join City Hall’s architect, Gene Dub, for an after-hours tour as he tells the story of our fourth City Hall. Visit key spaces, such as the City Room, Council Chambers and the Heritage Room and learn more about the building’s unique design features.
Sunday, October 18 at 3PM: Join former City Councillor, Michael Phair, for a personal history tour of City Hall. Hear stories and experiences of City Hall from its opening year in 1992 to his last year in office, 2007.
These tours are free and open to the public.
Pre-registration is required.
Access points: West door at 100 Street, East door at 99 Street, South fountain/plaza doors.
Guests may also park in the paid parkade below City Hall at the P3 level, accessible from 99 Street. Take the P3 elevator to the Ground/main floor.
Meet at the Security desk 10 minutes before the tour start time to check in. A City of Edmonton staff member wearing a blue vest will check visitors in.

A multidisciplinary showcase of major projects from students and early career professionals.
MADE by Young Bloods is a volunteer-run gallery showcase for Edmonton’s emerging design community, held during Edmonton Design Week (Oct. 13-18). 15 selected designers will present major projects across Architecture, Furniture, Publication, Video production, Branding, Service design and more, and showcase their individual processes and outcomes.

Visit "Sensing the City" — explore Edmonton's history through taste, touch, sound, sight & smell
Designed by ECAMP’s Exhibit Coordinator, Marina Hulzenga, the “Sensing the City” exhibit engages with modern museum design and accessibility principles. This exhibit encourages visitors to explore the stories of Edmonton through their senses using interactive elements. The display materials were designed to be modular and flexible, and ultimately, intended to be reused and adapted in a variety of ways.

Accessibility Information:
This event will be held in the North Atrium of the library. It is an accessible building space with accessible washrooms. The exhibit is wheelchair accessible and includes Braille and large-print guides, as well as described audio.
EDW 2026: Form & Future: Exhibition by the Student Design Association

Edmonton City Hall
A project showcase by generations of the Student Design Association. The exhibition highlights evolution of ideas, processes, and practices.
The Student Design Association presents a curated exhibition showcasing design work created by students across the university, alongside selected work by alumni following their studies. The exhibition brings together a range of physical and visual work, including industrial design, visual communication design, and other studio-based projects.
The event offers the broader community an opportunity to see and better understand the creative work, research, experimentation, and making that happens behind the scenes at the university. Visitors can explore finished projects and discover the ideas and processes that shape them, gaining insight into how students develop their design practices from the classroom into professional life.
Guests can expect a curated display of student and alumni work, an exploration of different design disciplines and approaches, and a welcoming space to engage with the people and ideas behind the work.
